Moving furniture in Oslo, Lillestrøm, Asker or Bærum? This checklist helps you prepare it properly before pickup and transport.
How to Prepare Furniture for Transport
Whether it's being picked up from a store, a private seller, or moved to a new address, transport goes more smoothly when the furniture's ready beforehand. This checklist covers what actually makes a difference - not just the obvious stuff - before we pick up and deliver in Oslo, Lillestrøm, Asker, and Bærum.
Before Pickup Day
• Empty drawers and cabinets. Loose items inside can shift, tip, or damage the piece during transport.
• Secure loose parts. Shelves, glass panels, or removable pieces should be taken out or taped down so they can't move.
• Disassemble large pieces if you can. A coffee table with removable legs, or a bed frame that separates from the headboard, takes up less space and is safer to carry.
• Measure doorways, hallways, and stairs the item needs to pass through - both where it's picked up and where it's delivered. Especially important if you're also booking moving help.
Protecting the Furniture in Transit
• Cover delicate surfaces - blankets or wrap protect against scratches and knocks.
• Pack glass and mirrors separately, ideally upright and well padded, never flat with weight on top.
• Mark fragile items clearly, so it's obvious they need careful handling.
Protecting Your Home - at Both Ends
• Clear the path from the door to where the item's being collected or set down, so there's nothing to trip over.
• Add protection at tight corners or door frames where the item could easily scrape against a wall.
• Let us know about pets or kids who should be kept clear during the actual carrying.
On Pickup Day
• Stay reachable by phone during the time window, in case we need to check on access or parking.
• Have any authorization or order confirmation ready if the item's being collected from a store or warehouse.
• Show us the tightest point along the route in, especially if you've booked moving help - that way we can quickly judge if something needs to go in at an angle or be taken apart further.

FAQ: Preparing for Furniture Transport
Do I need to disassemble furniture myself before you arrive?
No, but it makes carrying safer and faster if large pieces can be split up in advance. Not sure how? We can take a look together on pickup day.
What happens if the furniture isn't ready when you arrive?
We'll do what we can on the spot, but unprepared items can take longer to handle safely, especially through tight spaces.
Do I need to provide packaging, or do you handle that?
We secure the item properly for transport itself. If you want extra protection on delicate surfaces, it's a good idea to cover those beforehand.
